So, it’s one week before your wedding day – what should you be focusing on? While most of the heavy lifting of your wedding planning should be behind you, there’ll always be details to finalise.
Let’s have a look at what you need to do in the last week:
With the big day so close, it’s a good idea to take at least three or four days off work so you can focus on wedding details. Arrange this in good time. The days off will also give you time to do any last beauty treatments and have a little time to relax.
Contact all your vendors and suppliers to check in and ensure everything is in order. Don’t be afraid to call them a few times during the week. Your wedding is a big deal, and you need to feel confident that they can answer all your questions.
You’ll likely have to sort out second payments for catering, flowers, bar service, and such things. This is typically done in the last week.
Remember to arrange payment for your officiant as well. This is often made in cash on the wedding day. If so, entrust the task to a responsible member of your wedding party or family.
Check all your garments and accessories for the wedding to make sure everything is clean and fits beautifully. Don’t try it all on too many times, as then things may get grubby and it increases the risk of something coming to harm!
If some of your bridesmaids and groomsmen are helping sort out aspects of the wedding, check in with them to make sure they have managed to do everything. If any new tasks come to light, designate these to appropriate people in the last week.
Make sure your itinerary is up to speed. Double-check it and think things through. Then, you can give it to the relevant persons a few days beforehand.
If you’re going away on your honeymoon shortly after the wedding, ensure you’re all packed and ready to go. Check your passports and visas and sort out any last-minute travel arrangements.
While the week before can be frantic, it’s essential to find time to relax. Be sure to keep your regular exercise programme, as this will help you work off extra steam. Find time to do things that help you relax, like yoga, meditation, long hot baths, strolls on the beach, and anything that helps ground you.
It can be easy to get yourself into a blind panic in the last week. The pressure is on, and people may act out. Remember to take a deep breath and think before you do anything - and always take the high road.
Also, be sure to take it all in. This is probably your one and only chance to immerse yourself in your own wedding’s magic. Make the most of it!
