It’s Here! - How to Navigate the Big Day

After months and months of intensive planning, your wedding day is finally here! Following so much build-up, it may feel a bit surreal for it to have arrived. You may not be 100% sure what to feel and how to act.

To help you out, here are six tips for navigating the special day:

Relax

Firstly, you may need to calm those butterflies and get grounded. Yes, of course, it’s great to feel excited, but you need to keep your wits about you, as well as appear confident and graceful.

To get your feet on the ground, you can try a little light exercise like a stroll once you have woken up, some light yoga, or some meditation. It may also help to have a small wedding morning talk with someone - a friend or family member - who is a calming influence on you.

Eat a Proper Breakfast

Once you feel more grounded, make sure you eat a decent breakfast. It will be a busy, emotional – and memorable – day, so your body will need its strength to bear up under the demands. On a momentus occasion such as this there also might not be much time for eating anyway, so be sure to get your fill.

Make sure to include a few different food groups. Try to have some yoghurt or a little oatmeal and fruit to start, then some bacon and egg on toast. Bananas are another good option as they provide a lot of energy and strength. Peanut butter on toast can also help to keep your hunger pangs at bay and provide you with energy.

Go Over Your Vows

A fresh memory of your promising words will definitely help with presenting them eloquently. Therefore, go over them a few times on the morning of the big day before you go about all the other wedding business.

You can practice them to yourself, into the mirror, or just silently while you get ready. Practice keeping your eyes off your keynotes.

Have a Toast with Your Bridesmaids

It’s a lovely tradition to share a Champagne toast with your girls before the wedding ceremony. It sets a celebratory tone and a sense of camaraderie to the day. Just make sure no one goes overboard on the Champers!

Put Away Your Phone

Your phone could be a major distraction on the big day, so it’s best to put it away. Place it safely aside at the very least for the ceremony! Make sure your vendors have the relevant contact number of someone who has taken responsibility for a specific task so they can get in touch if necessary.

Shrug off Any Challenges

There are bound to be one or two things that don’t go according to plan during the day. If this happens, simply take some deep breaths and go with the flow. It is impossible to control everything that will be happening at your wedding.

You may even find that the odd mishaps here and there make for fonder memories and funny stories to tell over the years. Decide that whatever happens, it is how it is meant to turn out on your big day. It can be challenging to let go of that sense of control in a moment of tension, but you’ll be much happier and enjoy your wedding far more if you can loosen your grip.

In Conclusion

Do your best to enjoy each and every moment of this once in a lifetime event. Enjoy the time with your family and friends, savour every moment with your new spouse, and let the magic happen!
