Your family and friends will be coming from far and wide to celebrate your big day. Favours are generally a couple’s way of saying thank you to their guests for attending and celebrating with them.
They can also provide a reminder of the day for the guest as well as serve as part of your table décor on the day.
No, you don’t. While some people consider it good etiquette, others don’t pay much attention to it. A lot of couples are opting to skip favours and opt for something a little more DIY or make the day enjoyable through experiences.
Ideally (and budget permitting), all attending guests, children, and suppliers/entertainers should receive a favour.
Alternatively, you can also give favours to couples or per table (this only works for small tables and with edible favours like wine or small personalised cakes for the tables).
Children often receive special or different favours from the adults, that are more age appropriate (candy, a small toy, etc.).
You can place your favours on the tables themselves by each guest’s seat or on a separate table. For children’s favours, you can group them with their parents.
There is no correct answer to this question as your favours should reflect you as a couple while also attempting to tie into your theme. You will also know your guests the best. What will they enjoy and benefit the most from?
Generally speaking, the best favours are useful, can be used up, and/or are edible; stay away from things that will just create clutter in your guests’ home.
Please keep in mind the age groups of the children you are getting favours for and safety of the toys.
Also, remember pens and crayons for colouring activities as well as brushes and ways to clean up for any painting activities.
