With just one day to go, you may be wondering how you should spend this time. By now, you’ve probably run through your entire to-do list. So, ideally, you want to get as much rest as possible. However, if nerves are keeping you on your toes, engaging in some light tasks and activities may help keep you grounded.
Here are six items to pay attention to and to keep you occupied on the day before the wedding:
Of course, your friends and family will be super excited and want to spend some time with you. However, make sure to have some time to yourself to gather your thoughts. Do whatever helps to relax you – reading, a nice hot bath, taking a stroll, watching your favourite films, spending time with your mom, etc.
Doing some of your favourite kind of exercise will help ease tension and make you feel great on the big day. Do some yoga, take a jog or even a nice brisk walk. Don’t do anything too courageous that could cause injury or overexerted muscles.
Your wedding party will likely have questions about some things, so if you can, spend some time with them and talk through details, even if it’s just on a group call.
If you are doing a DIY wedding, you’ll have plenty of time to do this while you all set up. If this is you, make sure everyone gets lunch! You don’t want 'hangry' attendants, and a relaxed meal together will help you all to bond.
If there is anything you have a small niggle about, make a call to the relevant vendor, supplier or coordinator to ensure all is in order. This is your last chance to avoid any miscommunications. It’s better to find out the day before if there are any problems rather than learning about them on the wedding day!
Give your dress, shoes, and accessories a last check as well. You may need to trim the odd thread and that kind of thing, so it’s best to give your outfit the once-over.
It helps to have a kit full of odds and ends that may come in useful at the wedding. This may include band-aids, string, scissors, some emergency make-up, antiperspirant, wound ointment, eye drops, hairpins, and so on. This way, when you need something on the day, all you have to do is raid the emergency bag.
Stylists typically say that hair washed the evening before the big day is easiest to work with. So, unless you have been given different instructions, give your hair a good wash and conditioning the evening before. Don’t try anything new, just in case it doesn’t work out.
Lastly, don’t forget to breathe and enjoy your last day as a singleton! From tomorrow onwards, you’ll be a Mrs. or a Mr.
Happy wedding dreaming!
